RUSH

For saxophone quartet (SATB) – Duration: c 6:00

Rush was written for the West Point Saxophone Quartet while the composer was in residence at the Villa Serbelloni, a retreat for artists and scholars in Bellagio, Italy. The title is self-explanatory and the tempo of this short work is relentless even during the more lyrical "chorale with protesting bari soloist" middle section. The work begins and ends with the entire group playing a unison line, which contains the same 900+ notes!   click for sample pages
