Summer’s Passing

Written in memory of the composer’s wife of 35 years, a passionate flutist and devoted teacher whose studies involved extended stays in Japan on a number of occasions. The musical ideas for this work reflect both her Japanese influenced sensibilities as well as the traditional approaches to flute playing in which she was originally trained. Commissioned by, recorded, and premiered by Laurel Zucker on Inflorescence III, Music for Solo Flute.
